"Health fairs give students an opportunity
    to interact with the community!"

The AMSA Health Fair Team seeks to provide opportunities for Dominicans to be screened for hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and hypercholesterolemia. Meanwhile, participants are educated about test values through informational pamphlets about disease states and health maintenance. Furthermore, the health fairs give students and opportunity to interact with the community and learn valuable communication and clinical skills.

AMSA will administer two large health fairs this semester. One will be held in Portsmouth, while the second will be held at a new location, DuBlanc. We also hold smaller hypertension screenings in different communities throughout the semester. We are in the midst of planning a campus screening day where students will be able to screen other students and faculty members. The health fair team continually strives to strengthen the partnership between Dominican communities and AMSA in an effort to improve the health status of Dominica and to enrich the education of medical students.
